Welcome to Olga Bornavolova's Piano Studio
Olga Bornovalova, an accomplished pianist with M.M. and D.M. degrees from the Gorky Conservatory in Russia, resides in Wauconda, Illinois. She teaches at the College of Lake County, Harper College, and her private studio, accepting students ages 5 to adults. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced pianist, Olga's lessons are tailored to help you improve your technique, build your repertoire, and develop your musicality. She ensures a personalized, enjoyable learning experience, allowing students to progress at their own pace. Many of her students have achieved success in local, national, and international competitions.
One of the most common questions I receive is, “Who can study piano, and when is the best age to start learning?”
From my years of teaching experience, I’ve found that children as young as 4–5 years old often make a wonderful start, but there is no upper age limit—adults of all ages can achieve their musical goals. I welcome students of all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced pianists seeking to refine their artistry.
As a teacher, I believe that anyone can learn to play the piano. My approach is thoughtful and personalized, aiming to bring out the very best in each student’s musical journey.
Lessons are tailored to suit each student’s age and focus. Options include:
• 30 minutes
• 45 minutes
• 1 hour
Younger children often begin with shorter lessons, gradually extending their session length as their focus and abilities develop.
As a collegiate member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Illinois State Music Teachers Association (ISMTA), and Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association (NWSMTA), I actively participate in numerous local events throughout the school year.
These include:
• Music festivals
• Classical and pop music recitals
• Local, national, and international piano competitions for advanced students
Additionally, I hold two studio recitals each year, providing every student with the opportunity to perform and celebrate their progress.
I also participate in the Achievements in Music (AIM) program, designed for students in grades 1–12. This program focuses on building a solid foundation in music theory and performance skills. While participation is entirely optional, it’s an excellent way to deepen your musical knowledge and repertoire.
